Lash Lift / Brow Lamination Advice

So, you're thinking about having a lash lift or brow lamination - even both? If you've never tried it, the first thing you may be worried about is that you have to keep your eyes shut for so long and perhaps that the products may sting if they get into your eyes.  Well I'm here to tell you that it definitely isn't a challenge to keep your eyes shut as you can simply have a little sleep and enjoy being pampered. Products very rarely get into the eye, and if they do, you will be fully prepared to know what to do as I go through this with you before we start. I've been doing this treatment for years and I can safely say, you are in good hands.

Lash Lift:  The lashes are lifted from the root and set in place over a silicone shield that is glued to your eyelid, before having a 3-step system applied to the root of the lashes only. After the lift process is complete, a tint is applied. The result creates a natural looking lift and gives the illusion of length and volume, making the eyes appear more open. Lash lift is a quicker and impressive alternative to semi-permanent eyelashes and will enhance your own natural lashes, with little or no maintenance for 6-8 weeks.

Will the result be natural?

Most certainly!  Your lashes will be lifted and more defined.  Most clients say 'WOW' when they see them for the first time!

Who can have this treatment?

  • Anyone who wants to wear less mascara

  • Anyone wanting a more defined, open eyed look

  • Anyone wanting to look after their natural lashes and forego lash extensions

Medical conditions affecting suitability for treatment:

  • Herpes simplex/eye infections/folliculitis - not suitable whilst infected

  • Psoriasis/eczema - not suitable for treatment in the treatment area

  • Conjunctivitis - not suitable whilst infected

  • Alopecia - not suitable for this treatment

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding - there is no evidence based research to confirm if certain products could affect an expectant mother or baby.  Therefore, not recommended for pregnant women as a safety precaution

  • Recent lasik surgery - must wait 6 weeks after the 2nd procedure

  • Recent permanent make-up - must wait 4 weeks after 2nd procedure

  • Sunburn / very sensitive skin

  • Cuts/abrasions/inflammation or swelling - in the treatment area or who have experienced a positive reaction the the patch test are not suitable for treatment

  • Cancer - the brows and lashes need some extra TLC and babying during chemo and the recovery period which varies from client to client.  It is important not to put any extra stress on the lashes.  It is best to refrain from treatment during chemo and several months after the last treatment, as the hair is still susceptible to the effects of the drugs.  Ideally, wait until the natural lashes/brows are less fragile.  A letter from the GP will be required, stating suitability for the treatment.

How long does the process take?

Approximately 45-60 minutes.

How long does it last?

Clients obtain a result lasting 6-8 weeks.  This is dependent on where in the growth cycle you are at the time of treatment.

Can it damage the natural lashes?

No - all the products used are specifically developed with nourishing ingredients.

Is Lash Lift painful?

Absolutely not!  The treatment is designed to be relaxing and rejuvenating.

Can I reapply make-up afterwards?

Pre & Post Treatment Advice

To maximise your treatment and give your lashes or brows the best possible, long lasting result, please follow these tips:

  • purchase either the Lash & Brow Toxx conditioner or the Cold Pressed Castor Oil before leaving the salon. Apply daily using an upward motion .

  • keep the lashes and/or brows DRY for 24 hours.

  • do not apply Retin-A, AHA or exfoliate around the brow area for THREE days either side of this treatment as this may cause sensitivity to the products used and may result in scabbing and irritation

  • no self tanning products should be used on the face for 48 hours either side of the treatment.

  • do not apply make-up, facial cleansers or receive any other eye treatments for at least 24 hours after your treatment

  • avoid the temptation to over touch the areas treated. Touching can add oils to the area (from fingers/hands) and could clog the open pores, resulting in spots

  • do not allow prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or heat; the use of sunbeds, saunas, steam rooms and swimming pools

  • tweezing your brows in between appointments is to be avoided to maintain the best long-term shape

Please note: tinting results will be darker and more defined immediately after your treatment and oil based make-up remover can cause the tint to fade faster.

If any stinging or swelling occurs, keep applying a cold dampened cotton pad, cold compress or cooling spray to soothe.  If it persists, seek medical advice and let me know to document on your record card.

Brow Lamination:  Eyebrow Lamination will help give you a uniform, full eyebrow shape. This is the ultimate solution for eyebrows that do not have symmetry, where the hairs follow a different pattern. With lamination, it is now possible to realign the brows in such a way as to give them the desired shape you want and a fuller look. This treatment solves the messy brow issue, creates volume and fullness, while giving you a sleek well-kept brow shape for up to 2 months.  With a new protein composition based on liquid keratin and silicone you can also encourage brow growth by creating a protective film around the hair.

Will the result be natural?

Absolutely - if you want that!  You can have any outcome you wish!  Eyebrows are bolder, fuller and in a beautiful shape you can wake up with daily for up to 2 months.

Who can have this treatment?

  • Anyone who is unhappy with the shape of their eyebrows

  • Anyone wanting to grow out areas of sparse eyebrows

  • Anyone wanting to improve the shape of their eyebrows

Before Your Lash Lift or Brow Lamination Treatment:

  • You will require a patch test at least 24-48 hours prior to the treatment date.  The result from the test will be either positive or negative. A positive result will be recognised by irritation, swelling or inflammation of the skin.  If this occurs, you must not proceed with the treatment.  A negative result produces no skin reaction and you can therefore proceed with the treatment.

  • Be sure to remove all traces of make-up using an oil free make-up remover and a clean cotton pad.

  • Remove your contact lenses, if applicable.

  • Do not use any products containing Retin-A or AHA's THREE days before and THREE days after your treatment.  Your skin my be more sensitive if using these products and may react to the treatment, causing scabbing and irritation.

  • Do not use any self tanning products on the face for 48 hours either side of the treatment.
